The Arcade September 2014

How convenient, just as we decide to redo our bedroom, The Arcade comes along with plenty of offerings to help make the choices on what we want just that little bit more difficult. I think this room has been decorated, cleared and re-decorated at least 3 times before we finally found a combination and style that we both agreed on. It was tough, their were arguments, but this is the final outcome.

The toughest choice we faced was between the Ispachi and Apple Fall beds.

For once I kinda one the argument, and we went with the more masculine looking bed from Apple Fall, lending itself to a much more neutral looking room, oppose to the more feminine style we have always had in the past.

Back to The Mens Department

With some free time on our hands, Elliss and I decided we should go re-visit The Mens Department one last time and pick up a few pieces before it closed. While the majority of stores these days don't truly retire items after events, its better to be sure and grab the stuff while its available. Id hate to miss out on something just because I was naive in thinking it would still be obtainable after the event. While it is pretty much common practice to put things out after the event, there are still a few who either don't, or do but take forever to get round to it. Better to be safe than sorry.

It was handy having Elliss along with me, we both have pretty varying styles and as such gave me the perfect opportunity to show more off as part of this post.

The Jeans Elliss has on in the picture are the Bueno Lexi  Denim Jeans that I mentioned in my last post, but in this case in faded black. I even brought another pair of these my self Faded BluGrn (not pictured). For anyone that wears jeans a lot on Secondlife, these are definitely something you need to consider buying. 

The sweatshirt worn by Elliss is the [2byte] sweatshirts 05 (Love Hate) I haven't tried it n personally, sop I cant say to much about it other than it looks good, fits well, and Elliss seems really pleased with it. Its not really my style so not something I will be rushing out to buy, but if this is a look you like, then based on what I have been told and seen, its got to be at least worth grabbing the demo and trying it out.

To finish his outfit Elliss brought the Eudora 3D El Dorado Hi-Tops

I'm torn by these, I think they look awesome, and I have been so tempted to buy them myself, but every time I go to, I talk myself out of it. They look great in the ad pictures for sure, and just as good in world. I just don't think I would personally use them all that often. I still might buy them, its coming close to the end of the month, and there aren't to many more events I need to hold back money for.

I definitely spent a lot on my second trip to The Mens Department, and picked up a lot of the things I didn't buy the first time round. I wont bother going through all of it, Ill stick to the stuff I picked for my outfit, I am sure the rest will show up in other posts further down the line. 

The Top I am wearing in the picture is the Zaara Imran Kurta in the Salmon colour ( I also brought it in sky but wanted the salmon for this post). It was hard to pick the colours I liked the most, but felt the salmon and sky were the two I would get the most use out of and went with them. I also picked up the Texture change hud for the trim of the tops..A must I feel if you are going to buy any of them. I own a few pieces by Zaara so the  exceptional quality of the work didn't shock me, I knew I would get what I paid for and ultimately was very happy with my choices.

The chinos again were me falling back on an old favourite. *Shai* I brought these blindly without even demoing them, and I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. In this post I am using the *Shai* men's Basic Chinos White, but there were so many colors to chose from I almost wound up buying them all. Considering 5/6 months ago I had never tried anything buy this creator, now I just buy things blindly because I know that the product represented in the ad is what you are going to get, and the sizing of the Shai products is always spot on.

This will be my last post focusing on this round of The Mens Department for this month, but overall this time round I was very happy with a lot of the stuff there. I think its the most I have brought in recent memory at this event, and I'm definitely looking forward to the next one.

The Mens Department August 2014

This week my wife has been busy setting up a show home for her business, and I decided to help. By help of course I mean I just kinda sat there not in the way while she gets on with what she was doing. Getting in her way, I find, is the quickest and easiest way for me to get into trouble. 

With all the decorating going on I managed to find a few moments to sneak away to The Mens Department and pick a few things for myself. I find on a month to month basis its very hit and miss as to whether I find anything there I like or not, and this round was a hit for sure. It was hard for me to just pick out a few pieces to write about, but I feel I picked the pieces I loved the most, and will hopefully make it back before the event is over to pick up the rest.

Firstly we have the Eddy Cardigan by howl. I picked it in the gray color I seem to be favouring that a lot lately, but there were many colors to pick from, and a hud to control the color of the shirt as well for an additional 100L$ definitely worth getting if you are going to buy one or more of these cardigans. Unfortunately it wasn't as easy as just putting it on and being ready to go, I had to tweak my shape a little, and play around with my hands to get it all to fit, but ultimately it was worth the effort and looks great on. 

To go with the cardigan I picked the Bueno Lexi  Denim Jeans in Blue. After Demoing them the hardest thing I found was deciding which pair I wanted, so I went with the pair that I figured Id use the most. Blue jeans I know, we all have plenty of them, and that's why I normally avoid buying any more, but these I managed to put on and with out any extra effort I had boots (Zed Mesh Dessert Boots) and a top (see above) that fit perfectly with ZERO visible clipping. Its hard to find jeans that fit so fluidly with other items, let alone things made by other creators so I was most happy with this purchase, will be buying a few other colors for sure.

-One Eleven-

As a man in Second Life who likes to shop it is always exciting to come across a new designer producing high quality mesh clothing for us, and they don't get much newer than One Eleven. 

With only 3 t-shirts to choose from, and set an an incredibly reasonable price I didn't hesitate for a moment buying out everything he had to offer on the market place, and rushed straight to my platform to show them all off. In the hope to shed a little light on this new creator, in the hope that it encourages them to carry on the amazing work. 

Normally when I blog, I like to try and set a scene, and write a story, try to draw a picture for you all of what is going on, but honestly, I felt that I wanted these shirts to speak for themselves. Its so easy for us to just glance at all the textures around us and just take them for granted. we see hundreds, thousands of them a day. A lot of the hard work creators do for the most part goes unnoticed and so I wanted to keep it simple and clean, to make the shirts the main focus, and to really highlight the effort made by the owner of One Eleven on these stunning textures. 

I really hope this is just a sign of things to come, and once One Eleven finds their stride that they really start to experiment with a whole manner of clothing. I will definitely be adding them to my watch list, and honestly, I think you should to. At only 50L$ these T-shirts are most definitely great value for money.

Atelier Kreslo presents: Donut Festival '14

I was lucky enough today to get early access to the donut festival. and I assure you I took great advantage of it wipes a few crumbs from his shirt. But its ok, even I with my love of donuts were unable to eat everything there, so there is still plenty left for you to all go and enjoy when the event opens to the public. 

When I first landed I was in awe, I was like a kid in a candy store...except the kid has the money to buy all the things, and as you can imagine this kid went to town. It was a tough choice, after all, as I'm NOT a kid I had to be a little responsible and not buy everything all at once, so picking just a few was my first hurdle...but compared to what was to come it was relatively easy. 

The hard part came when I got home and had to plate them up, besides having to hold back myself from eating them I had to fight of my family long enough to get a few photos before my trip to the donut festival was reduced to a few crumbs. 

Thankfully the event runs for 2 weeks, so there will be plenty of time for me to go back and grab all the ones I was unable to get this time round, and even a few extras of some of the ones I loved the most. 

The creators have all done an exceptional job of this, and it REALLY was tough to single out just a few to feature in this post. 

When it was all said and done...I even found the strength to share one...just one..the rest are mine!!

Cracked Mirror

I must admit from the start, when I brought this outfit it was with the sole intent of trying to enter a contest to become a blogger for Cracked Mirror, I had never heard of or seen their stuff before, but as an aspiring blogger I figured it would be at least worth trying. 

What I didn't expect was to find an outfit I really loved. I've always been a big fan of a smart/casual look, and so I found most of their entire mens catalogue perfect for me. The part I struggled with the most was to find the pieces I would buy to use in my blog post, and after trying on the pieces I did buy I will definitely be going back for more. 

In all honesty, the only downside I did find was the small number of items they did have for men, it certainly will not take me long to eventually go through and add it all to my inventory. I know its hard for creators to want to create for men, we are not the majority of the market, and its more profitable for people to make stuff for woman. So I get excited when I see store like this at least acknowledging us men, and I really look forward to seeing what there is to come in the future for men from Cracked Mirror.

Today I decided to take my pictures in my man cave. Living on land populated by almost all women its nice to have a little space for myself. I say my self, my wife did the décor for me, I'm useless at that stuff, and as you can see she did a wonderful job.

Razzberry Inc @ Woodlands July

If you has of told Jayme a year ago she would be meshing her own stuff she would have laughed at you. But in the last 5 months she has worked hard and taught herself how to do s, and honestly you would never be able to tell its only been a few months. Knowing Jayme as well as I do, I feel very comfortable saying she is one of the hardest workers I have ever met, and when she sets her mind to something she will do what she can to jump over any barriers stopping her. 

This collection is no exception!

The theme for this round of woodlands was 'Tropical', and with this collection, she has delivered in spades. Think of beach, think of summer, think tropical and everything in this set comes to mind. Beautifully meshed, and perfectly textured this collection is a perfect addition to any beach party. 

With its vibrant colors, this set makes my mouth water, and my stomach complain that i am not enjoying this food in real life. Least on SL I don't need to worry about how much of it I eat :D
